j RUSSLEY CLUB. In a match played yesterday morning between players on the Hagley links and on Russley links, the former won by 5 matches to 4. The Labour Day Handicaps, played at Shirley yesterday, attracted a large entry of local players, 1 and included a number of tho leading golfers of New Zealand, who stopped off in Christchurch for the day on their way north. In the number was Sloan Morpeth,' of Auckland, the open champion; T. H. Horton, of Masterton, the amateur champion; and J. L. Black, runner-up in the amateur, and his brother, H. A. Black, F. C. Fryer, of Napier, and seTeral others. In addition to the amateurs, nearly all o£ the North Island professionals were also spending the day at Shirley, and A. J. Shaw, the winder of the professional championship, was among the number. In the bogey handicap, played in the morning, M. A. Johnston had the best card, 2 up, and was tho winner. J. h. Black and Donald Grant won the four-ball bogey in the afternoon with 6 up. 'R. T. Tosswill and F. Morrison were second with 5 up. The best cards were:BOGEY HANDICAP.
