♦- ALLOCATION OP PORTFOLIOS. (PBBS3 ASSOCIATION TBLEOBAM.) WELLINGTON,. AugUßt 27. An announcement affecting the alio, cation of Ministerial portfolios was made by the Prime Minister tordoy. The Governor-General has accepted tho resignations of the Hon. Mr Nobworthy, Minister for External Affairs, and the Hon, Mr Anderson, Minister for Marine, and has appointed Mr Coates Minister for External Affairs and Sir Maui Pomare Minister for Internal Affairs. The appointment of the Prime Minister as Minister for External Affairs is in accordance with the announcement made some months ago. Sir Maui Pomare has been acting as Minister for Internal Affairs practically since the death of the Hon. Mr Bollard, and the Hon. Sir Francis Bell has been acting Minister for Marine since Mr Anderson's departure for England last year.

Mr S. Hurst Seager has written to the Canterbury College Board of Governors stating that as he wishes his collection of art books, etc., to be of service not only to Canterbury College students, but also to students of the School of Art, the High Schools, and the Archi; tectural Institute, he considers the most suitable location would be the Public Library. The Board decided, at its meeting yesterday afternoon, that his wishes would be acceded to and the collection housed in the Public Library for the present.
