The Board of Governors of Canterbury College accepted yesterday afternoon tho resignation of Miss V. K. Bull from the staff of the Canterbury Public Library as from September 30th. Miss G. Scott, at present on the staff of the administrative office, was appointed senior assistant at the Library, in place of Miss Bull. Miss G. Scott-Baker was appointed junior assistant at the Library. At yesterday's meeting of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College, it was decided that Miss Matson, of the staff of the Christchurch Girls' High School, should be granted an extension of leave until the end of the present term, and that Mrs Giddings' appointment as relieving teacher from July 23rd be approved. The society of St. Osmund (Salisbury Club) will hold a carnival dance in St. Michael's Hall, Durham street, on Thursday evening next, August 30th, at 8 p.m. Music will be supplied by Bert Lamport's orchestra. Members and friends of the Mothers' Thought Guild are reminded of the meeting on Wednesday next, when Mrs A. D. MASQUERADE BALL. i Missea Margaret Anderson, Ruth Turner,. Olivia Spencer-Bower, Phyllis Francis, Ermyn Fitzway (hon. secre-tary-treasurer), Messrs Leonard Booth, Alfred Webster, William Reed, Russell Clarke, and John Oakley (chairman) comprised the committee responsible for the masquerade ball held last.flight at the -Winter Garden. Each year' the students of the Canterbury College School of Art hold a very successful social gathering, and 'ast night's ball lacked nothing of the spontaneity and joyous goo'l fellowship that have characterised its predecessors. The Bailey-Mardton Band provided the music, and an exhibition dance was given by Mr Leo. Bowden and MiBS Molly Jenkinson, while a most divertr ing eccentric, decidedly eccentric, ballet, was danced by' Misses Olivia-Spencer-Bower, Julia Scarvell, Mary Hogg, Floi .nee Akins, Ruth Turner, and Mr Alfred Webster.

SOCIAL AT LINCOLN. The St. Stephen's Girls' Club, Lincoln, held a social recently as a farewell to Mrs C. L. Wilson, who is leaving next month for Akaroa. The evening passed quickly with games and competitions, and Miss Dolly Smither called upon Miss Linda Crisp to present Mrs Wilson with a handbag from the members of the club, with their best wishes for the future. Mrs Wilson heartily thanked the girls for .their beautiful gift* and the serving of supper brought a very happy evening to a close.
