FLYING-BOATS.
COMPORTS OF NAVAk AIRCRAFT (wok owt ow coawspoiipsprr,) SYDNEY, August 10. The arrival in Sydney of the four Southampton super-marine flying boats did not give too public the slightest thrill. Not only does the flight of the squadron Jack the spectacular colour of the Pacific and other epic journeys, but the boats, in their sise, amenities, and general appointments, do not conjure up any of the bayards of the air which appeal to an imaginative public With their quarter-decks, where one may bask unfor tropic skies, the,ir cooking ranges, to remove any of the problems of gastronomy in ordinary air' craft, their wireless outfits and other comforts, they suggest quite an ideal existence if brought into popular use for the lotus eater with the time and the money to spare on a long, safe cruise in the empyrean and in strange, colourful seas.
Not the least interesting part of the squadron's cruise will be along the Barrier Beef and the island seas of the north-east.
