BORN FAMOUS.
* — MUSSOLINI'S ANCESTRY TRACED. PROUD OF HUMBLE BIRTH. (BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COFTBIOHT.) ("THE TIMES.") LONDON, March 11. The Rome correspondent of "The Times" states that Signor Mussolini, commenting on the announcement that ho was discovered to be of historic descent and entitled to a Count's rank and title, said: ""What matters it? Ifl am proud of anything it is of my humble birth."
An enthusiastic admirer, Signor Giovanni Dolvetti, a Venetian barber, uhose hobby is heraldry, has published a book on Signor Mussolini's ancestry, the result of four years' research in the Venetian archives. He unearthed a 16th century document showing that the Mussolinis had always been Tribunes since the year 996. Some attained high office. The Emperor Sigismund, in 1344. appointed Giovanni Mussolini a Palatine Count with the right of perpetual transmission.
Dolcetti whets the appetite by announcing that he will trace Signor Mussolini's descent in a later volume, but Signor Mussolini cites the ancient proverb, "It is better to become famous than to be born famous."
