LIFE-SAVING.

COMPETITION AT SUMNER. The competition for the cup given by Mr \v. H. Nicholson, Mayor of Sumner, known as the Mayoral Cup, was decided on the Sumner beach yesterday afternoon. The conditions were as nearly perfect as possible, and this, combined with the fact that no fewer than six teams were entered, made the competition ono of the most successful yet conducted by the club. Later in the afternoon Mr Nicholson announced the winning team and congratulated all the participants on the fine display. He introduced Mr D. V.
