A strainge story comes from Brussels to the effect that Prince Leopold was working in his study when an explosion in the fireplace sent pieces of metal flying out. The Prince was not injured. Despite the secrecy maintained, the Central News Agency learns that the Prince, whose war experiences qualify him to judge, declared that the explosion sounded like that of a handgrenade. The fragments are being subjected to expert examination.

ANOTHER REPORT. (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received January 18th, 8.15 p.m.) LONDON, January 17. The correspondent of the "Daily Chroniclo" in Brussels reports that in an explosion in. the Palace- of Bellevue, several windows were broken and a door damaged. Attendants rushed to the room, which was full of smoke. It is believed that explosive was concealed in a copper ball decorating one of tho firedogs on the hearth.
