TRAMWAYMEN'S DISPUTE.

+ GOING TO ARBITRATION COURT. The demands of the Christchurch Tramwaymcn's Union were considered further before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr W. H. Hagger) yesterday morning.

The assessors for the Tramway Board were Messrs J. A. Fleshcr, W. Hayward, and J. Wood, and those for the Trainway Workers' Union were Messrs E. Snow (secretary), K. McCallum, and J. Foster.

The question of wages will be considered by the Arbitration Court, as the Board was unable to agree to any demands for inereases in this respect. Certain alterations were agreed to in regard to holidays and overtime clauses, as a result of which trackcleaners will receive twelve days' annual holiday in place of ten days, and day shift men in the car-sheds will be paid timc-and-a-quarter if called on to work on statutory public holidays. Apart from these amendments the majority of clauses, except those relating to wages and holidays, were agreed to t on the lines of the old awaTd.
