CORNWELL CUP.

RACE TO BE RE-SAILED. (PRISS ASSOCIATION TILBGBAM.) AUCKLAND, January IS. The fifth race in the Comwell Cup contest was sailed to-day. Otago led all the way and finished 4min 28sec ahead of Tauranga, with Maaukau next. Owing to a foul between Auckland and Canterbury, the race was ordered to be re-sailed, on the grounds that the collision, which had caused Auckland to retire, had a detrimental effect on the boat's gear and had spoiled her chance of carrying on in tin race. Canterbury on a part-tack fouled Axickland on the starboard shortly after the start. Auckland was then 33 seconds behind Otago. Canterbury and Auckland retired, and also Whangarei. Only Otago and Auckland will be allowed to start in the race to-morrow, but if Auckland wins all the boats will be allowed to start in another race later in the afternoon.

Should Otago win the first raoo, it secures the cup.
