IN ITALY.

GENERAL PRAISES MUSSOLINI

[THE PEEBS Special Service.]

AUCKLAND, July 19

"There is no such thing as tyranny in Italy. Mussolini is the greatest man the world has known for a generation. I can assure you that in a few years we shall all be Fascisti." So said Brigadier-General Camillo Yannelli, of the Italian Army, who* arrived at Auckland to-day on the Marama. General Yannelli is on a visit to his son, Giorgio, a youth of 19, who is learning farming at Lotting, near Hicks Bay, on the East Coast of the North Island. General Yannelli is a Roman by birth. He is still on the active list of the Italian military power. He ' was on active service throughout the War, being in command of the Ussari di Piacenson, a regular Cavalry regiment. Most of his regimjent accomplished notably good work. "There,is no attempt at dictation in the army," said lie. "Nearly everybody in Italy has come to realise that Mussolini saved the country at a time of crisis. He brought order out of chaos, and when the verdict of history is given I think it will be realised -that be was a great man in the truest sens© of the term. I have nothing but admiration for British institutions, but I think Mussolini has established one in Italy which is worthy to rank with the best."
