LEAGUE OF NATIONS.

AN INTERESTING LECTURE. An interesting lecture on the need for, and the origin of, the League of Nations was given by Mr W. T. G. Airey, M.A., at the Training College last night. The lecturer emphasised the effect of democracy and nationality on war, and also the effect of economic development on international relations and on war. He described the international anarchy between 1878 and 1914, and ; then the Great War and its cost. He dealt partly with the military and human eostj that of the latter being 10,000,000 men. This caused the people to realise that some kind of international organisation was necessary to prevent war, and the result of this feeling was the formation of the League of Nations.
