GRAND THEATRE.
The world-famed opera by Richard Strauss, "The Waltz Dream," is the hsadlincr at the Grand Theatre again this week. . It is not often success has attended an opera when transferred to the screen, but in "The Waltz Dream" the producers have accomplished this ui a worthy manner. The producers are the U.F.A. Company, who produced "Variety," and it is not too much to say that the second venture easily eclipses the first production. It is dramatic to a degree, has a gripping ptory running through it, and tlio setting and music give a richnesß which could bo imparted in no other manner. Tha acting E taw pa the artists as being übove the ordinary standard. Throughout the screening the orchestra plays good music, and the "Blue Danube" waltz, eo well known and loved by music-levers, predominates. Matbrson Lanx as Stephen Rhodes has one of his most suitable characters—that of a se» captain, tie has appeared in many strong parts, but in "The Island of Despair" ho is well suited, and docs his best work on the screen to date. It is a masterful characterisation. Marjory Hume plays the lead of Christine convincingly. The Stoll Picture Company have produced a. really pood film.
