CANTERBURY JUSTICES' ASSOCIATION.
0 MEETING OF COUNCIL. A meeting of the council was held last night in the Library of the Chamber of Commerce. Present—Mr A. Williams (president), and Messrs H. Herbert Smith, G. E. Franklin, A. H. Hobbs, F. B. Creswell, and J. Russell Brunt (registrar). Apologies were accepted from Messrs C. H Gilby, W, H. Seed, J. W. Baty, and H. Holland. Correspondence was received from the Magistrates' Association, London, which was received with thanks. The secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association wrote that the usual united citizens' memorial service would be held on April 25tb, and asking the Association to send a wreath. - The was granted. The following applications' to join the Association were received and confirmed, viz.: Messrs Francih T. Ager, James A. Hay (Timaru), R. H. Webb, and Mrs W. G. Roberts. The list of members in arrears with their annual abuscciption was read. It was decided to send, out a circular requesting settlement. Messrs A. H. Hobbs and A. Williams, delegates to the New Zealand Federation, of Justices' Association, held at Dunedin, each reported on the work accomplished at the conference. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to the Otago Association expressing the thanks of this Association at the splendid treatment extended to its delegates during their stay in Dunedin.
