A NEW MOVE. 'VARSITY BOAT RACE. [THE FBESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, April «. A movement i* on foot in New Zealand. to establish a University boat race, la -which etenet from the Universities at Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury,. and Otago will compete. The proposal emanated from Auckland, and hag been enthusiastically received In ■Wellington, and "at Easter a crew representing: Victoria University -will travel to Auckland, where the'first 'Varsity race is to be rowed. It Is not known yet whether Canterbury and Otago will be represented. As- the rowing clubs in each of trie four centres inelpde in their membership University students, it is hoped later to Institute an eight ; oared race. Wellington'will be represented by the following crew:-—Gray, Platts-Mills, Crease, and Mullins. The raee will be rowed over a course of one-and-a-half miles in clinker boats.
