DEER STALKING.
GOOD BAG IN ASHBURTON DISTRICT. The bes; dee r head obtained in tho Ashburton Acclimatisation society s district for many years was a 10pointer obtained by a local resident. Mr F. Clark, during the week-end. The animal, which was shot on the snowline on the slopes of Mt. Somers, about dav-break. was M r Clark's first kill It was a true type of red deer in splendid condition, and the head was very evenly pointed. Mr Clark stated that there" were plenty of well-conditioned deer in the back country. This season bids fair to produce 3ome good sport in this direction.
