AMBULANCE APPEAL.

OVER £3OO RECEIVED. The annual appeal on behalf of the St. Johu Ambulance Association was concluded yesterday with a street sale of badges and'resulted in ."135 Hd being collected. Subscriptions and donations received during the period of the appeal totalled £3/1 Ids (id. making u grand total of £537 6s on. This is :a decrease as compared with last year, when £482 2s Ud was _ received from subscriptions and donations, and £lO4 12s 6d from the street "rale of badges, a total of £676 15s ttil, or £lB9 Ss lOd more than* this year. A large body of ladies assisted in the selling of badges yesterday. Mrs Cordy, ana Misses Taylor and Spencer looked after the issue of badges and the locality board; nursing sisters of the St. John Ambulance Brigade,-super-vised by Sirs H. Herbert Smith, we to in charge of the refreshments for the helpers; Lt.-Col. F. B. Creswell and Messrs Hoddinott and Hungerford were in charge of the boxes and cash; and the appeal generally was supervised by the secretary, Mr C. J. Trelearcn.
