THE SUMMIT ROAD.
COMPLETING THE TAKAHE. As recently explained in The Fbess the Summit road Trustees, of whom Mr Win. Reece is chairman, the other members being Colonel Studholme, and Messrs W. T. Charlewood, S. G. llayniond, L. G. D. Acland, and G. T. Weston, are asking for public subscriplions for a fund to complete the roadhouse, The Sign of the Takahe. The sum of £3OOO is required for the scheme projected, and a substantial part of this sum must be quickly raised in order to keep going' the work now in hand. The whole future of the Summit road scheme depends largely upon the completion of tne roadhouso and the securing of the Cracroft Hill reserve. The trustees have themselves contributed £2OO, and haTe received various donations. We invito readers of The Press to assist this good cause, and are receiving subscriptions at our office.
