Beuth secured tho best average for the homo side, bagging three for 94; White did well to get two for 50, while Mitchell proved expensive with tv.-o for 218. Worker and O'Brien, who did so well in the first innings, opened Hawko's Bay's second strike. The latter had barely started when ho tipped one from Ebellng into Campboll's hands behind the stumps. He was followed by Lowry, who lasted to 13; when he skied one from Armstrong. . Rcancy jotned Worker, but after scratching for a while he, too, gavo Campbell a catch off Wood. White camo in, and with Worker speeded up the pace. The latter, after making 47, lost his wicket to Snndford, being caught on the boundary by Wood.
