The Government Immigration Department warmly replied to criticisms by Commissioner '""lib, who in London charged Canada «ith inadequately supporting the Salv.ition Arinv's. immigration work. The Department alleged that the Army is collecting lroiii British boy settlers' first- wage.s 111 Canada even more than the lull amount jointly grunted by the Canadian and British Governments, and that the boys liclicve that they are indebted to the Ari'iy tor Mich monetary aid. The Department slates Unit Lhe Army's immigration methods are less altruistic than is generally believed, and should bo completely "overhauled.
