Municipal Affairs. Judging from the lively interest that is being taken in Greymouth municipal matters, there is likely to be quito a number of fresh aspirants for municipal honours at tho Borough Council elections, which take place in April. There was little or no interest displayed in municipal affairs two years ago, witli the result that none of tho Borough sent 3 was contested. Marist Brothers' Jubilee. The Greymouth celebrations of the golden jubilee of the Marist Bros, in tho Dominion was commenced p.this morning with a Communion Mass which was participated in by a verylarge gathering of ex-pupils of the Marist Brothers' schools. The service was followed by a Communion breakfast at the St. Columba Hall, where his Lordship, Bishop Brodie, presided. Among those present were the Rev. Brother Justin, provincial of the Order, and a number of visiting Marist Brothers and clergy. Appropriate speeches were made by his Lordship, the Rev. Brother Justin, and Messrs M. Daly, H. F. Doogan, and W. Sullivan.

Special sermons were delivered nt St, Patrick's Church during tlio morning and evening services on the celebration and its significance. To-morrow morning Requiem Mosses will be celebrated for the deceased Marist Brothers and ex-pupils. The Weather. Ideal midsummer weather, with the intense heat tempered by a refreshing breeze from the lasman, is being taken full advantage of for the pursuit of outdoor pastimes, of which battling is easily the most popular. The south beach was thronged with surf bathers this afternoon, while numerous motoring picniging parties left this morning to spend a day in the country. The resorts receiving the largest share of patronage being Punakaiki and Mitchells.
