KAIAPOI MILLS PICNIC.

The precincts of Ashburton's picturesque Domain were considerably enlivened on Saturday when it was visited by about 1000 people who comprised the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company's annual picnic, hold in Ashburton. as the guests of the Ashburton Borough Council. The picnic included the company's Christchurch warehouse und factories, and the Radley and Kaiapoi mills. The weather was all that could have been desired, and altogether a very pleasant outing was spent. Every provision was made for the entertaining of the picnickers by the large committee, ably assisted by the secretary (Mr W. Jack), who was very attentive to the requirements of all concerned. A comprehensive programme of races for adults and children was dispatched during the day. Derry's Military Band accompanied the excursion, and played a selection of popular music during the afternoon. Two trains were required to convey the picnic party to and from Ashburton.
