HEAD OF RIVER" SERIES. On Saturday 'be final of the Head oi the River rowing eerie: was held on tlio Avon. Tho Union Club hid an easy win, the points being:—Union 18, Avon 8, Canterbury 6. In Saturday's races each club won an event. One of the best contests was that betwe«ii W. L. Whittington and W. J. Sorgison in Uie senior single sculls. It was hard {ought all tho way, Whittington winning by about half a length. TEo results were:— Senior Single Sculls—First lical: Union Xo. 1 (W. L. Whittington) 1, Union No. 2 (H. L. Bush) 2. Second heßt: Avon (W. J. Sergison) 1, Canterbury (A. K. Johnson) 2. Final-: Union 1 Avon 2. Light-weight Maiden Fours—First heal: Union No. 1 (J. McAuliffestr,C. Hamilton, J. O'Eeilly, R. Sutherland bow) 1, Union No. 2 (F. Foster str, G. Austin, A. Phcil, W. Bowden bow) 2. Second heat: Union (CI. Rushworth str, W. Barwick, T. Adkins, A. Jones bow) 1, Canterbury (U. Milnos str, 11. F. Batchelor, W. J. Brown, G. A. Morris bow) 2. ... Final: Avon 1, Union 2. Avon had s fairly easy win by two lengths. Maiden Pairs—First heat: Avon Xo. 1 (L. Webster str, J. Bristow bow) 1, Avon Xo. 2 (R. Taylor str, H. Lonsuzc bow) 2. Second heat: Canterbury (H. L. Stephenson str, C. L. Bacon bow) 1, Union (F. Sicrakowski str, G. Greenway bow) 2. Final: Canterbury 1. Avon 2. Canleibunwere not pushed, and won easily.
