ROYAL VISIT.

DECORATIONS COMMITTEE MEETS. A meeting of the Decorations Committee was held in the Council Chambers yesterday, at which four members were present. Mr J. N. Du Feu was in the chair. Mr G. W. Bradley submitted a plan for the suggested decorating of the "island 1 ' outside the Railway Station, the cost of the erection being approximately £7O. It was decided that the prico for the erection of this feature be accepted. Several quotations for the supply of flags for the decorations were put aside to be dealt with later. Tho Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. Mr Bollard, wrote advising, that, on the ocension of the Royal visit, arrangements are being made for the flagging of the Government Buildings, Chief Post Office, and Provincial Buildings, and for the Chief Post Office to bo illuminated. The Minister also suggested that citizens be asked to docorate suitably their residences by flagging. It was reported that arrangements for the decornting of tho Railway Station were well in hand. It was derided that the work of decorating the route bo done by tho Council, nnd that men who arc at piesent unemployed be taken on for the work.

M,r Leadley made verbal enquiries and received a reply from the Department of Internal Affairs to the effect that tradesmen who supplied poods during the Royal visit were supplying the New Zealand Government, ant: not the Royal guests. Furthermore, it was advised that the words "Tinder Royal Patronage" could I - used only by tradesmen who were continually sunnlying goods to the Roval Household.
