CAUSES OF POWER LOSS.
When an engine lacks power, crhen tho compression is poor, when it pumps oil and uses too much fuel, ii; is probablo that tho rings are old and do not fit properly. A piston rhig is supposed to pack the cylinder so that tho gas docs not leak downward and oil upward. Jii order to be ail ideal device it must do this without exerting too much pressure against the cylinder wall, and the pressure must be evenly distributed all round. The ring must fit the cylinder perfectly; it must fit its groove in the pistou so that it will be neither too tight nor too loose.
