I CORDIAL HOSPITALITY | ARRANGED. ' INTERESTING PROGRAMME. '■' ROM oi'K OWN OK T.KSro SPENT.) LONDON, December CS. j -A lew particulars retarding the coming tour of the New Zealand cricket team to this country in 1 ( J27 will no doubt be of interest. JllO fixture list has alrcadr Wen made known, and Mr H. I>. Sunn, nho has been a «i ; tcd by Mr Arthur Sims in drawing up this programme, has been extremely fortunate in being able to arrange a very interesting and coinpiehensivc list ol matches. Tho proposed I ,st of fixtures, sent to New Zealand b\ a recent mail, has been approved and confirmed at a meeting ol the County .Secretaries, held at Lonls. I lie programme thows that all the nr.it-cla.sj counties have made fixtures with trie visiting team, with the oxeepUo" of Hampshire, who unfortunately could not find a convenient date. Other interesting matches are against ;i;,; ,!"!■ I '! )l . I '' Army (at Folkestone, July I r " : tllc East of England (Wisbech, July SUh, 11th, 12th) : and •*C'-L ol England (Exeter, Julv '.itli, I.Blb, 29th); whilst matches will also be played against Scotland (at Wasgow. on Juno 21th, 25th), and „ l' es , ( ;l ' Llandudno. on September 3rd. sth. Otli). Several matches have been arranged with minor counties, including Durham | (Sunderland, June 18th. 20th); Northumberland (Newcastle-on-Tyiie, June 22nd, 2Jrd); Norfolk (Norwich, August -Otli, 27th). and Bedfordshire (Bedford. August 21th, 251 hj); and the team will have tlio opportunity of appreciating the hospitalit v of English country house cricket at Ilolyport (.Mav !>th. 10th. Mr H. Martincau's XI.) and Old Buckenhain Kail (Anirust 29th, 30th. . Mr Iwerard (Jules' XI.). Visit to Scarborough. II is also very pleasing to nole lhat tliev will have the privilege of playing on the historic ground at Scarborough, as although it was not possible to arrange a fixture there during the nine days of the Festival itself, Mr 11. 1). G. Lcvcson-Gower has very kindly arranged for them to play, in September, a twoday match (which may possibly be extended lo three days, immediately following' on the other matches of the Festival. Mr Leveson-Oowcr courteously went, out of his way to arrange this match, where the team will be tho guests of the Scarborough Cricket Club, as he felt that it would be very unfortunate if a team from the Dominions could not have an opportunity of playing at Scarborough, one of the most delightful of Yorkshire coast resorts. Wcll-Arraiigctl Itinerary. A pleasing feature of the tour has been that in drawing up the programme it has been found possible, to a very large extent, to avoid any long and tiring journeys, as the matches, speaking generally, follow upon each other very conveniently. The only really difficult journey comes at tho end of the tour when they will have to travel by night front Canterbury (September Ist and 2nd) to Llandudno (September 3rd, sth, Gth), but as it will probably be found possible for them to make this journey by sleeping car, they should not experience a very great deal of inconveniece. During the tour they will be fortunate in spi'nding many week-ends where places of interest can bo seen on the Sundays, as a study of the detailed Fixture List will show. Tile team will be very fully occupied during the whole of their visit, and will not have many days free from cricket, but in arranging The programme Derby Day (June Ist) has been specially left clear, in order that any of the team who so desire may have an opportunity of visiting Epsom. They will also have a free day (June 21st) between their matches with Durham (at Sunderland, June 18th, 20th), and Northumberland (Juno 22nd, 23rd), when opportunity will be taken of enabling tho visitors to sec something of the shipyards on Tyncside, and they will be the guests of tho Newcastle Haco Committeo at Gosforth Park Kaces. The team aro due to arrive in England on April 20th, travelling from NewYork in the Majestic. It is probable that on arrival they will spend two days in practising at Southampton, where the Hampshire County Cricket Club have courteously placed tho County Ground at their disposal. They will probably travel to London on Sunday, May Ist, and spend the following week practising at Lord's, and perhaps play a couple of practice matches —one at Berkhamstcd (provisional, May 4th), and one at Alton (practice match, May 7th) where Major G. Burrctl has kindly promised to entertain the New Zcalanders as his guests. The team can be assured of a warm welcome wherever they go, and 110 stone will be left unturned to sec that they have a pleasant and delightful visit to the Old Country.
