CORSAIR BAY.
TO THE EDITOR OT TIIE TREBS. Sir,—The lack of public spiritedncss as manifested by the disinterested manner in which tho public are catered for, or, rather, failed to be catered for, so far a3 Corsair Bay is concerned, is deplorable. Here is a small bay, ideally endowed by Nature for safe family bathing, and that such recreation is popular is evident by the largo numbers attending this watering-place during the summer months. Are the City Fathers o£ Cliristchurch and Lyttelton so indifferent to the health nnd welfare of their citizens that they fail to see that the outlay of a few pounds at this bay would return unlimited dividends byway of good health for the people. Tho Bay is handy, and trains are uncomfortably packed. The Sunday railway timc-tablo is a farce. The Government is "out for business," and yet, I understand, tickets for Port have been "sold out" at stations en route before the departure of tho first train from Cliristchurch at 9.30 a.m. Let tho Railway Department put on a reasonable train service to Lyttelton. Let the Lytteltonians build more bath-ing-shed accommodation, shelters, and conveniences at the Bay, generally wake up, and assist their visitors. Let them put on a conveyance to carry pushcarts, prahis, and mothers with small children to this ideal bathing resort, and make the charges reasonable. People do not object to pay for service, provided it is good. Let Lyttelton realise what an asset it has in Corsair Bay, and mako it worthy of the popularity bestowed on it.—Yours, etc., CORSAIR BATHER. February 10th.
