I omitted in my previous letter to point out that sfr Ell's scheme to provide with its wayside rest houses a road from Lyttelton to Akaroa Heads would afford, and that at no very distant date, a route or drive in no way second tn the world-famous drive, tho Corniche road alone the Mediterranean Sea. which must he familiar to everyone who has visited the Riviera: while the view from Cracroft Hill can not be fin-passed by that from Mount Kden or Cornwall Park. so Moved of Aucklanders, and should well make Christchurch residents proud and cratcful to Mr Kll. Hut the money required by the trustees to complete the work will not, I fear, be raised hv merely advertising for : what is needed is a public rneetinir fit which a committee of representative and enthusiastic supporters and workers would bp elected, whose special business it would be to get it.
