PROTECTION AGAINST SUBMARINES.
"MYSTERY TOWERS*' EXPLAINED (by cable— press association—eoftbioht.) (Sidney "Sun" Service.) (Received February Oth, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 8. Th« "Daily Mail" says the Admiralty considers it now safe to reveal the purposo of two "mystery towers" eighty feet high, costing £1,200,000 each, built during the war, one of which replaced the Nab lightship, and the other of which was broken up. They were the forerunners of many similar intended towers on the Strait of Dover to bo linked up by nets and heavily fortified and equipped with searchlights for the purpose of baffling German submarines.
