DARING BURGLARY.
PAPANUT HOUSE RANSACKED. A daring burglary was committed yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mr J. Blumsky, 56 Haybuvn avenue, Papanui. Mrs Blumsky loft homo early in tho afternoon to go to town, leaving the back door koy in a convenient position. Shortly after 4 o'clock, when Mrs Blumsky returned, blio found a bicycle at the gate, and on going to look for the key found it gone. Her daughter, Joan, arrived about Ihe same time. Mrs Blumsky managed to force open •one of tho kitchen windows, her daughter gaining entry to find tho back door locked, wjth tho key inßidc, and the front door open. Fufther investigation showed that £2 3s 6d had been taken from ;i drawer in tho bedroom, and 8s from another drawer.
Evidently tho burglar visited tho house, and finding no one nt home, found tho key and let himself in. Ho must havo carefully locked tho door behind him. Ho then ransacked the house.
On hearing Mrs Blumsky at the back door he hurriedly escaped by tho front door. Joan remembered seeing ii man wheeling a bicyclo from tho gate. She describes him as being tall and wearing a dark blue suit, a light skull can, and no collar. On his bicycle was a largo red book and a blue macintosh with plaid lining strapped on behind.
