POSSIBLE MISTAKE BY ACCUSED. [THE PRBS3 Special Borvlco.) DUNEDIX, February 9. When tho case of George Thomas S'vaim was called in tho Supreme Court at 10.5 this morning, there was no appearance of the accused. Constables and sergeants called bis name down the. corridors in vain.
Another matter having been disposed of, Mr Justice Uecd asked counsel (Mr A. Hanlon): "What about jour client, Mr Hanlon r 1 " Counsel replied that Swanu had been present nil the previous tiny waiting to be called, and ho (Mr Hanlon) could only assume that what had occurred wry often was now happening, that was to say, that persons connected with ciues in the Court thought that the time for resuming on the second and subsequent days was the Battle as the time at which the business of the ( inrt began en the first day (10.30 a.m.). His Honour: Am I right in assuming tl.at a plea of guilty is to bo entered!' Mr Hanlon: Yes, your Honour, His Honour: Then I do not propose to deal with him until Friday. In tho meantime I should like a. report from tho probation officer.
