CLAIM FOR WAGES.

COMMONWEALTH SILVER BAND SUED. In the Lower Court yesterday, belore Mr H. A. Young, S.M., Herbert lilutlstouc Hill, director of publicity for the Commonwealth Silver Hand, proceeded against Albert H. Bailc, eondiictor and manager of tho band, for the Mini of £ltß. Tho hearing was adjourned tintii Thursday. In his statement of claim, the plaintiff, who was represented by Mr Y\. F. Tracy, stated that the sum claimed for was*made up of salary from Jiinuarv 2nd until February Ith at the ralo of* £lO a week. £US Is <"d expenses incurred, and £'l3o salary forihrce mouths in lieu of notice, less £io 1 Is 7d paid into Court. Mr W. J. Hunter appeared for the defendant. Mr Tracv said that it was admitted that the band was in arrears with wages to a very large extent, and ho could not agree to Mr Hunter's suggestion as the band was to leave New Zealand on February 18th. Mr Hunter evidently was not awaro of the facts of tho matter. The case was adjourned until Thursday.
