BARQUENTINE BURNED.
A FORMER SOUTHERN CROSS. [THE FBESS Bp<cUl Serrlco.] AUCKLAND, February 8. Burned to the water's edge, and a total wreck, was the recent fato in tho Eastern Pacific of the barqnentino Ysabel. Private advice to this effect has been received in Auckland, but particulars of the necident were not given. Tho Ysabol, in her 52 years of sea service, had a varied career. Sho was launched at North Shore in 1874, and traded constantly out of Auckland. Built to a special design for the Melanesian Mission, she was called the Southern Crqss. She was tlio Mission's third vessel, and tho second one to bear that name, her succossor being the present steamer Southern Cross. Sho was in the Niue Island service for some years. In 1P25 she was purchased by a French firm in Tnhiti, being used in the interIsland trado iu tho Eastern Pacific.
