The jury returned a verdict of guilty on the charge of failing to keep proper books, and not guilty on the charge of contracting debts wflhout reasonable expectation of paying them. Tho jury added a riJer recommending leniency, as they believed the books were kept to the best of their knowledge. The Judge said he did not altogether agree with the finding, but he accepted it. Accused were respectable, hardworking men, and the case would be met by a fine of fivo pounds in each case.
