SANDERS CUP.

SOUTHLAND CREW ARRIVES

Members of the Southland party arrived from Stewart Island last evening and are staying at the Canterbury Hotel, Lyttelton. They are Messrs C. Hansen (skipper) and H. Hansen, and Masters IS. Cragg and J. Phillips. Two other members, Messrs B. Johnston and H. Pollock, will arrive on Thursday. Messrs C. Hansen and A. B. Moffatt aro delegates to the Yachting Conference. The Southland boat. Murihiku 2nd, will arrive in Port this afternoon. The boat is a new one and built in Auckland specially for the contest, and was onlv delivered to the Stewart Island Club about a fortnight ago. She is =aid to be much superior to Murihiku Ist A few days ago, the Stewart Island Club received a letter from the Ot-igo Yachting Association, in which the Association congratulated the Southland crew on its new boat, and wished it success. The letter further stated that a win for Southland would be a most popular one. REQUEST DECLINED. V request l'jr financial assistance in respect of the Sanders Cup contest came before the Christehurch Tramway Board -eaterday from the Canterbury- Yachting Association. The letter makinc the request was received, and it was decided to reply that owing to the present state of the Board's finances it vn* regretted that no donation could po.wibly lie made.

ENTERTAINMENT OF VISITORS,

The CounHl of the Ciintcilmry Autoiiu»hile Association decided last night to accept tho offer of the Canterbury

Yachting Association to provide petrol and lunch for those members who would give the use of their cars for the entertainment of visiting Sanders Cup crews. It was decided to advertise requesting those members who were willing to lend their cars to hand in their names.

PARKING OF CARS

The Lyttelton Borough Council has decided that parking of motor-cars will not be allowed on the Sumner road during Sandera Cup races. The road is very narrow, and a state of congestion would be caused by the parking of more than a few car's. A motor inspector will be in attendance to ensure that the prohibition is observed.
