CANTERBURY CENTRE

A meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Ccntro of tho N.Z.A.S.A. was lield lost evening, Mr M. E. Lyons presiding. Tho Wharonui Club was granted pcrmisainn to sub&tilulo at its carnival on March 3rd a 100 yards men's inter-club handicap in place of the 220 yards previously granted. The Somerfield Club's programme for a carnival on February 12th was approved. Tho secretary of tbo Wultbam Club wrote that tho club which was in existence last season had become defunct. An entirely new club had been formed, and application was innde for affiliation to the N.Z.A.S.A. It was decided to grant tho request. With reference to the suggested visit cf Misse3 Stocltley and Millar, Auckland, it was decided to guarantee tho Now Zealand Council £10; if tho Council declined tho offer, tho tour lapßcd as far as the Canterbury Centre was concerned. It was decided that the delegate on the Now Zealand Council bo instructed to support alteration of rules to ensure- that not more than four competitors started in the filial of tho Now Zealand 100 yards championship. It was further resolved to send tho names of Messrs C. H. Rich, L. Annand, and D. Coulter to the New Zealand Council, with u view to having them added to tho list of water pclo referees. Tho report of Mr D. Coulter, manager of tho Canterbury team at the Tecent championships in Auckland, was read and approved. The chairman stated that tho results of the championships wero' highly satisfactory, and wero much better than probably most of thora had hoped for. He moved a vote of congratulation to tho Canterbury competitors on their successes, and a vote of thanks to tho Auckland Centre for the manner in which it had entertained both the Canterbury competitors and delegates.
