LOCAL FINALISTS SELECTED. The seven Chri6tchurch finalists in the First National screen typo Competi* tion were selected on Saturday night by a committee of experts consisting of Dr. Jessie Scott, Madame Ahvyn, and Messrs Pe'arce, 11. Waters, and W. A. Malono (representing the First National Films). Tho girls, who are described as being of a particularly attractive type, wore photographed yesterday. They will apbear nightly at the Crystal Palaco for a week, and oh Wednesday evening a film showing the girls will be screened, in conjunction with their ap* pcarance. Finalists have also been selected in Dunedin and Wellington, the winner of the competition in each centre being given a trip to Auckland, where the Dominion finalist will be selected. The fortunate young lady will then bo sent to Australia to com* pete against the State finalists, the gi/1 who is ultimately declared the Winner being given a trip to Hollywood, to b6 featured in a film. She will also bo guaranteed a ten weeks' contract at £2O per week.
