SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs K. F. Hill (Merc Merc street) has returned from Christchurch. Mrs Christmas (Ashburtou) is visiting Timaru. Mr and Mrs E. J. Cordner and Miss Cordner, who were in Timaru, have returned to Christchurch. Miss Amy Olive (Surrey Downs) has returned from the West Coast and Lake Coleridge. Mrs McCahon and Mrs Lloyd Jones (Auckland) arc with Mrs C.F. Kerr (Kingsdown). Miss Bessie Howell (Mnrston road) has returned from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs J. C. Oddie (Lc Cren street) left on Saturday for a fortnight at Peel Forest. Mrs D. Ogilvie and Miss Berniec Ogilvio have returned to Christchurch after some weeks in Timaru. Mrs Ralph Bcctham and Master Hugh Becthnm arrived from Musterton on Thursday, and aro at the Hydro Grand. Mr and Mrs Armstrong (Chalmers street) have returned from Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Owen Howell (Cattle Valley) have returned from Tc Arawa. Mrs Ernest Howden (Park lane) is back from a fortnight in Dunedin with Mrs Henry Rcid. Mrs Geo. Hart and Miss Pigeon (Waiiti road) nnrt Mrs Free (Hawera) have returned from the Hermitage. Mr and Mrs Sumpter (Wui-iti road), who were, in Mr Owen Howell's house in Cattle. Volley for tho holidays, havo returned to Timaru. Mrs MeDougall, who was at the Grosvenor, and Mrs W. Webb, who was at the Hydro, havo returned to Christchurch. Mrs Charles Cresswell (Lismoro) returned to Mayficld on Saturday, after a visit to Mrs John Matheson (Wai-iti road). Mr and Mrs Greenwood, Miss, and Master Grocnwood, who were at "Kelso," have returned to Invercargill. Mr and Mrs Cullen (London), who are touring New Zealand, and Mr A. B. Barter (Auckland), who were at The Bungalow, left on Saturday for Mt. Cook and Qucenstown. Mishap to Cream Lorry:

When returning to Timaru on Friday evening a cream lorry belonging to the Cnrolino Dairy Factory, hmi a mishap on Maungati Hill. One of tho wheels struck some large stones by a culvert and although the vehicle was not overturned, a largo quantity of cream was spilt on the roadside. Band Concerts. Yesterday afternoon and again last evening largo numbers gathered on Carolino Buy to hear concerts given by the Fifth Mounted Rifles Band from Oamaru. A most enjoyable programme was given at each concert, tlio items including special contest selections. Collections jn aid of tho contest fqnds wero taken up. Bowling. A further match in tho Bristol Cup contest was held on Saturday afternoon at Park green, when tho Park Club woro called on to defend the Cup from a challenge by Ashburton.
