The annual ccrmpctition for tlio Kcsteven Life-Saving Cup took place »l Taylors Mistake yesterday afternoon. four team. entered—New Brighton, Sumner, Rorlh Beneli, and Taylor's Mistake, (ho first team winning by n margin of eight and a half potnU from Siimnor. . The water in the bay wa. very smooth, providing conditions conducive to a Inst swimming team. Along the beach was aset to tho left, which in tho case of the tirs. team (Taylor's Mistake) resulted in their mibjoct missing tho buoy and not finding it till another Bnbject had been sent out. All tho teams wero affected by this current, and generally speaking, the work was excellent. The following wero tho officia's:—ltefcreo, Mr \V 11. Benson; judges, Messrs F. 1.. Collind and G. Kesteven, tho president of the Taylor'. Mistake Club, and tho donor of tho cup, expressed his great pleasure at the gathering present, and congratulated the New Brighton Club upon its win. Mr C. Cooper, tho presidont of the Canterbury Surf Association, referred to tho splendid work of tho teams and club members generally. Tho visiting teams wore entertained at afternoon tea by the lady supporters of tho Taylor's Mistake Club.
