AUCKLAND. (MESS ABSOCIATIOV TU.CGBAM.) AUCKLAND, February 5. Tho Auckland provincial amateur athletic nnd cycling championships wcro held At the Domain in Ideal weather. Most of the attetition was foeusscd on the appearance of R. W. Lamb, tho Victorian champion cyclist, F. Grose (Christchurch), New Zealand champion, and J. Douglas (Gisborne). LBmb was both disappointing and unlucky. He -won his heat In the ono mile championship In 2min 40 l-ssec, but in the final, when lying about fifth, and too far back to catch Byrnes, the winner, ho had his front tyro punctured and fell, and Orr and Randrup alto camo down, but wcro uninjured. Lamb hurt a kneo slightlv, and did not compete again. Byrnes won a heat of tho two miles championship, but tho time limit was exceeded, ana he declined to race over again.
