MR VERNON GRIFFITHS' POLICY.
Professional musicians, as a rule, confino their attentions to music alone, but Mr T. Vernon Griffiths, tho now Director of Music in Schools for Canterbury, who arrived in Cliristchurch from England yesterday, holds that a musician mast liavo other interests. Ho bcliovca that it is better policy to varv ono's activities, and therefore ho takes a strong interest in outdoor sports. Association football is one oi his favourites, but rowing has tho lirst claim When at school in England, Mr Griffiths captained tho lioats, and rowed in both four-oar and eight-oar crews. ~ , . ~ "Have you anv intention ot taking up rowing here?" asked a representative of Thb Press, who interviewed him last evening. "I havo plenty of work to do and might not have the time," replied Mr Griffiths, but ho added that he had read with interest tho announcement that eight-oared boats had recently arrived in Cliristchurch.
