SUMNER. A meeting of the abovo Council was held last evening, there being present—Tho Sla-yor (Mr W. tl. Nicholson), Councillors It. C. S. Janiicsou, C. I. Dclihnm, E. A. Johnson, and F. C. Cooper. On tho main highway repairs had been carried out from Maffcy's corner to tho Post Office, with tarred ahinglo and tarred screenings. From tho Post Office to Evans Pass looso metal from tho eides had been raked to tho centre of tho road with tho horse grader. On the cast side of Augusta Btrcot korbing and channelling had been constructed. Work had commenced in forming tho footpath and regrading the sido of tho road. Tho rough growth had been cleared from tho fences and trees at St. Leonard's square. Stone had been quarried and carted to Estuary road for repairs to tho wall, and ruts had been filled in with fino scoria. At Clifton tcrraco a shoulder had been removed from the sido of tho road. A fenco at Scarborough damaged by a motor-car had been repaired. The laving of tho main in Alexandra, terrace was now finished.
