UNSATISFACTORY IDENTIFICATION PARADE. [THE PRESS Special Service] AUCKLAND. February U. "This man affords a very striking illustration of tlio danger of relying on evidence of identification, ami I am sorry to say that errors occur in our police identification parades." said Mr Justice Stringer, in summing up at the re-trial of Bertram O'Connor (Air Davis) in the Supreme Court on two charges of indecency. A disagreement resulted at the trial at the last criminal session.
Mr Justice Stringer, summing up, expressed dissatisfaction with the methods followed by the police at some identification parados, and said that the evidence of identification in this case was not reliable. He directed the jury that it would be dangerous to convict. The prisoner was found not guilty and discharged. -
