N.Z. ASSOCIATION. LETTERS FROM INDIA. When the Executive of the New Zealand Hockey Association met last evening the most Important matter with which it had to deal wiis the Invitation to tour Australia. Mr H„ S. J. Goodman presided, other members present being Messrs R. Oracle, C. Bellamy, H. Throp, I. Gunn, P. N. Quartermain, Biid W. H. Down (secretary). A. letter was received from Colonel H. E. Jackson, president of the Army Sports Central Board, Blmla, India, offering the Board s worm tbankb to the Association for the excellent arrangements made In connexion with the Tecent visit of tbe Indian hockey team to New Zealand. The Board was also most grateful for the kind hospitality universally extended! to the team, and would be glad if the Association would convey Its appreciation to all responsible for its welfare. The Board also noted with great pleasure that the tour helped to stimulate hockey in New Zealand, and promoted good feeling between tide two countries. Capt, J. H. Lowes, hon. secretary of the Board, wrote, advising that the cost of the tour had been far more than anticipated, and the further grant of 1200 from New Zealand was counted a definite asset. The iSouth Canterbury Association wrote thanking the New Zealand Executive for the courtesy shown* during the 1926 sesson. It had been the most successful in tbe annals of hockisy in New Zealand. tetteirs couched In similar terms were recetvod from the Otago, Geraldine, Whangarel, Temuka, Manawatu, and Wanganui Associations.
Advices from the various Associations gave tho following figures regarding players in their districts:—Auckland 1028. Nelson 172, Wanganui 216, Wellington 400, Manawatu 130, Otago 180, Hamilton 100, and Taranaki 70. The annual meeting was fixed for April 28th.
