DOBSON MINE.
PUMPING TO COMMENCE. (SPECIAL tO THK MIESB.) GREYMOUTH, January 16. Although Mo official statement has yet Been made as to when the work will be put in' hand of uhwatering the Dobson mine, which was flooded after the disaster which occurred early last month, information has been received by a representative of The Press to the-effect that the unwateriflg operations' will commence within the next few weeks. ' ,l lt is stated that during the visit Of the general manager, of-the company* Mr W. Leitchj to New South Wales, a suitable pumping plant Was procured Which Will arrive at DobSOU in* about three weeks 1 ' time. An electrical centrifugal pump will be utilised which will have a Suction capacity of approximately2s feet. This Will necessitate the pumping operations having to be carried out at Wages covering that distance until the unWatering of the mine has been Completed. To facilitate transport the pumping machinery will be erected off: a specially constructed truck so that the work may bo effected with the leftst possible delay. Mr W. Leitch, general manager 01 the Dobson mine, will return to DobsOfl front Australia On Tuesday.
