REVOLT THREATENED

The "Daily Chronicle's'' correspondent ia Madrid, Mr Martin Donohoe, states that on Sunday the garrison of 20,000 was closely confined to barracks, each regiment having a company under arms ready for an emergency. Infantry officers are angry r,\ the severe imprisonment indicted on the artillery oQicers, and insist upon General de Rivera's resignation. They favour a Dictatorship, but no! under General de Rivera. The King is in a quandary. A meeting of the Council will be held to-day at San Sebastian, the King presiding, and the infantry officers have promised to await the Council's decision. If General de Rivera decides to stay, he will probably have to face a serious army revolt which will drive him out of power, alive or otherwise.

The King is said to be seeking the advice of prominent: men outside the circle of the Directorv.

TANGIER CLAIMS MODIFIED. (.VCSTHAXIASr A>-r> K.Z. CABLE AS6OCIATIOX.) LONDON, September 19. The Spanish Government has sent Notes to Great Britain and France, modifying the previous Tangier demands. Conversations ate to follow between the three Powers regarding the admission of Italy to share in the control of Tangier.
