EVENTS OF THE WEEK.
"WEEKLY PRESS" PICTURES INTERESTING FEATURES. The opening of Parliament in Wellington last week is the' subject of an interesting double-page of pictures in to-day's issue of the "Weekly Press." The special commission, which performed the ceremony in the absence" of the Governor-General, is shown, and there is a very fine panorama of the Houses of Parliament and Government Buildings. Portraits of Mr Coates And his Cabinet are given, and idao. those of new members of the Lecislative Council. In addition, there are pictures of the wreck of the Manaia on a reef off Slipper Fsland; the funeral of the late Mr C E. Bevan-Brown in Christchurch; the recently-completed works at the Lake Coleridge Power Station: the Auckland Provincial Ladies' Golf Championship, further pictures of the Governor-General's island tour; and preparatory work On the new tourist hut at the head of the Waimakariri.
