THE MUSEUM.

SEVERAL NEW EXHIBITS, Many additions have been made to the cases in tlio Canterbury Museum during the past few days. They include a not sinker and two Maori adzes, found at Tumbledown, Bay and presented by the Be v. W. H. Stych. Two specimens of beche do nier have been \\ given by Mr Harjoy Thomas,'and Mr JE, j Dodgßhun, of Christchureh, Haraj-jkire, has presented a collection of fossils of the Tertiary period, found in Hampshire. Mr C. J. Wray, London, has forwarded a copy of tlio London , "Times," of May sth, issued on-t'.e : first morning of the coal strike, and Sir Henry Wigram has presented a copy of the emergency bulletin issued by the British Government during the strike. A bellows fish, found in the stomach of a hajjuka, caught off the Akaroa heads, has been sent in by Mr A. Poll, of Akaroa, and Mi J. Harris, of Ohakune, is the donor of a large green wood moth, together with a sample of wood bored by it. Mr Harris has been the contributor of many valuable additions to the general collection. A white swan, shot on Lake Bllesmere, has Been given by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society. < Throe of the specialty constructed '< cases showing the life history of tho insect pests, prepared by Mr Tonnoir, , of the Museum staff, are now being exhibited, and further exhibits are, in course of preparation.
