WAIMATE HUNT.

MEET AT REDCLIFF. On Thursday the Waim&te Hunt met at Redcllff. Scent was much better than might havo been expected, and somo rcally fast hunting was obtained. Hounds were thrown off in a grass paddock of Mr Thornton's and a hare soon put up. Running left-handed, sho made straight for tho homostead, where, turning back in a long circle, and crossing the Gleriavy rsad, was cventuallv pulled down on tho terrace overlooking the" river. After breaking her up, a start was made again in the same paddock, and hounds were soon away, Sho took much the same lino as the previous haro, but doubled back again across tho road, and a very done hare was lost in » ploughed fielc, where scent failed. This is the first day there has been any scent, and hounds ran fast and truo to the lino all afternoon. As rain has come at last, and with hounds in the form they are. there should be eome really good hunting from now on. A most cnjovablo afternoon tea was provided by the Misaes Waldie and Brown. Those following were: —The Master (Mr N. A. Rattray) on Grey Star; Huntsman (T. Hobbs) on Conductor; Whip (S. Turner) ou The Trimmer; Miss C. McLachlan on SelfDefence; Messrs J. 6. Manchester ou Colleen; A. Medlicott on Kilnera; M. Medlicott on Ginger; J. Waldie on By jingo; S. Melton on Naughty Peter; T. Hensbaw on Auburn; T. Thompson on Monko; and many others in cars. The field was smaller than usual, owing to so manv being awav at the closing of the Exhibition.
