OPENING OF INDOOR RINKS. Tho indoor bowling rinks which have been closed during the summer months were again opened for play last evening. Mr T. Freeman, the president, welcomed the player! and said he was delighted with the attendance, and hoped that as the season progressed the numbers would be maintained. He was pleased to state that Mr Borthwick would have charge of the rinks during the winter months, and he was now preparing a bill of fare which he was sure would meet with everyone's approval. Mr Borthwick announced that th<J same course as had been pursued in previous yean would again be • followed out regarding the championship games, but he intended as far as possible to run everything to time-table. It gave him very great pleasure to announce that Mr Arthur Rose had presented a set of four buttons, to be known as the Bose Buttons, for competition during the afternoon, and Mr George Oooper was giving a similar set for the evening players. After Mrs Freeman had sent down the jack and rolled the first bowl, the rinks were declared open for the season. r During the evening refreshment! were handed round under the supervision of Mrs Freeman, and several games were indulged in by those present.
