Brown, George, and his wife drank the boer with no ill effects, but George's son, Alfred, drank the cordial and died in convulsions. v Shortly afterwards the two other Bons and the youth Sinclair tasted it and became ill, but recovered, George's daughter, Florrie, left the liquor untouched, and was unaffected. Brown sent a telephone message for a doctor, and remained away till the next morning. He then returned and forced an entrance to the Georgos' house, lay down in a bed, and fatally shot himself. It is stated that Brown was infatuated with Florrie, who had shown a preference for Sinclair.
